Driving down a dry road today when all of a sudden I hit a puddle then all hell broke loose....... Loud exhaust and a vibration on the front passenger side, THEN it got back to normal down the road a bit when the road got dry. I cannot see any visible leaks on the exhaust........ I suspect the flex joint has failed and this sucks because it looks like I have to go for the entire front exhaust, is this a common failure or should I be looking for something else.

I wonder if the cold rain water got on the hot manifold and caused it to crack.

It'll probably go away when the pipe gets hot and expands but it will be noisy when cold.

No visible cracks......... Once it dries out the exhaust sounds normal.

Its common to have a cracked flex pipe on older vehicle. It is time to cut out the old cracked one and weld in a new one. There is no need to replace the entire front exhaust.

Thanks for the reply! Where can I buy a new flex connector? Do you know the size I will need?
