99 ES300 MAF Sensor
Should I be concerned? I just got my '99 ES300 back from the mechanic and he replaced the original MAF sensor with a new one. I noticed he installed a Denso 603 (197-6030) MAF sensor instead of a Denso 602 (197-6020) MAF sensor. According to the parts catalog, the 603 is for '02-'03 ES300. The 602 is for '99-'01 ES300.

if the check engine light is off, and the engine is running well, then probably not.
- it might pay to ask him about it, and I bet he's going to say: basically it's the same device.

I would first talk with Denso to make sure you know exactly what part is right for your car AND the implications of installing the wrong part. Do NOT rely on the person who installed it to tell you if it will be ok.

Thanks for the advice. The CEL is off, and the engine is running well. I'll contact Denso tomorrow. I'm really kicking myself. The mechanic charged me $190 for the sensor and $100 for labor. I could have bought the same part at a local auto store for $120 and installed it myself. Lesson learned.

Ask for the old part back, after it does belong to you.
