Default 93 ES300 Rim/Suspension Inquiry

Hello...
I'm looking to update the stock 15" rims & tires on my 93 ES300 with something a bit more current. This will a pretty conservative swap though. I've read about 17" IS rims fitting with a spacer added. I also might replace the struts and springs with something slightly sportier.
If you have any recommendations and/or links to previous threads, I'd like to hear.

thanks!!!

I recommend not going over 17", but keep in mind that your ride will suffer from a smaller sidewall. Struts and springs - I tried Tokico and Tanabe, but wasn't a huge fan of them, so I switched back to stock components.

I read your suspension upgrade thread...very thorough. Bottom line was that the combination was just too stiff for everyday driving? I have to admit, I do enjoy the comfortable ride. My goal is only to lower it a bit, reduce sway just a tad and add the 17" rims. I don't want a track car, and actually enjoy the rattle free ride. I'm an old fart and this vehicle is more about luxury to me.

I think 17" is the maximum I'd go for the ES. Anything larger and the ride will be too harsh. Not to say though, you will notice an increase in steering effort, road feel, handling, and a stiffer ride with 17's over the stock 15's.

I had the IS300 rims on my Solara with 3mm spacers in the rear to clear the 215/50/17 tires from the struts. IS300 rims are very heavy and make the car much harder to stop, especially with the already weak brakes on my car. I'm now looking at aftermarket 16 or 17" options for this car.
