Default Just bought a 1995 ES300

Hello All,
I just purchased a 1995 ES300 and 171k miles, and have been lurking around the forums for a few weeks to see what people had to say about their ES300s. Overall I feel I got it for a really good deal of $1000 flat. With the amount I paid for it I don't mind having to put some work into it but was wondering about a few things. When I purchased it, the previous owner only had one key for it, and no key fob. So, does the car come with a key fob? Second, I have a small fuel leak coming from either the fuel line or the return fuel line, so I was wondering if any one has run into this problem before? If so how hard was it to fix? Well other than those, I just have to replace the brakes and the front motor mount and I should be all good to drive the car without worrying much. What are some preventative maintenance things I should do to make my car last longer? I'm currently in college and don't have a lot of money to spend though.

Welcome. You came in the door right behind me. I just bought a 1998 ES300 with 179,500 miles for $2700 so I think we both got good deals. Of course, you know that the thing to immediately check is the oil sludge issue. Dont even think about using anything other than synthetic oil. You can save money by changing the oil yourself. I don't know much about cars and even I can do it.
Have somebody point out all the things that need to be address so you can prioritize, plan, and budget your money. These cars will go over 300,000 with regular maintenance....

Default Me three

I just bought a 96 ES300 with 265K miles on it from a co-worker for a good deal myself ($700!) Putting new CV and brakes/rotors and fixing a couple little things (windshield chip, hood struts, bulbs) to get it ready for MD inspection. Hoping to get it on the road soon.

So far, so good. Got a buddy who is helping with the CV/brake stuff as I replaced the hood struts, fog bulbs, and other minor things on my own and will be learn much else from him.

Once I get it passed inspection I am doing the full work over (oil, plugs, filters, etc) to really get her purring again. I love this car so far
