Driver's power seat motor sounds awful
Hey, anyone have any experience with replacing a seat motor? The driver's side still works, but sounds old, tired, and much louder than it should be. Curious if this is a diy, or dealer job.
Thanks for the help!

One of the driver's seat motors died on a 93 LS I owned several years ago. After being very frustrated with not being able to raise and lower the seat, I decided to try to replace the motor that was the culprit.
At that time (probably 6-7 years ago), the seat motors were available from the dealership; however, the price was shocking (several hunded dollars, if I recall correctly). I searched on ebay and eventually located a driver seat for this model. The seller would not remove the motor and sell me that part alone, so I bought the entire seat. I don't recall now what I paid, but it was probably not more than $100. The seat contained numerous motors, and most of them appeared to be of the same type. I removed one of the motors and installed it in my car's seat. It worked perfectly and continued to perform for the remaining years I had the car.
I don't have any idea whether or not new motors would still be available now on a car more than 20 years old as my 93 would be; however, If they did, I suspect the price would be more outrageous today than it was then.
Search on ebay. Somebody may have the motor alone. If not, you can probably find a seat that will provide you a good stock of used motors.
