Does it happen once the car is hot or just at the start?

My es338 was doing this a bit in the very cold winter. I switched to Quaker State full syn and it went away. I would do an oil change and see if that helps.

Is the sound constant? Does it change with RPM?

Thanks everyone for getting back to me! When car is cold like when I start it early morning I couldn't hear that noise because of rpm was too high but after driving it for a bit I was able to hear that
And also it doesn't make that noise while driving makes only when parked and it goes away when I push gas pedal

I guess it's constant cuz when I pushed gas pedal I was not able to hear that noise or maybe because of engine sound?

This could be a valve lifter noise. Make sure you using good quality oil.

I'm using mobile 1 full synthetic 5w-30 and I change oil every 3000 miles
But I don't know what kind of oil previous owner was using.

The M1 has a reputation for just the issue you have. In fact, the oil I was using when I had my ticking sound was M1. Just a thought, I would switch to QS full syn and see what happens.

In the end, you may need a valve lifter adjustment if the ticking continues.

I think I should switch to qs full synthetic.

There is absolutely no way that M1 will be the cause of the ticking noise. It's an excellent oil. I'm assuming he is using the specified 5W-30 oil.

Something else is going on. We don't have enough info. I'm not even sure it's valve lifter related.

With all due respect, you have no way of backing up that statement on M1,

If you go to the corvette forums, you will find TONS of posts on this issue.

M1 is factory fill in numerous cars, including Corvettes, Bentleys, Mercedes AMG, Etc., Etc.. and has been so for man, many years.

Yes, and if you go on any Corvette forum, you will find reams of threads referring to just this complaint. Most have simply dumped the M1.

Factory fill means that the oil is supplied free of charge from Mobil to GM in return for free advertising.

That said, you can use M1 if you want. I stopped, as did the valve noise.

And yes, we do not know if this noise is valve lifter related. I simply shared my experience with a similar noise.

I appreciate your input, however, If you like to persu the M1 debate, please start a new post, else we are hijacking the original poster's own post.

If you do, than please post the link to the Corvette site that you were referring to. I'll have a look.

Thanks

Phil
