Es330 Persisting steering wheel vibration
2004 Es330 200k kilos
Since I purchased the car over 2 years I've had a constant issue with steering wheel vibrations over 60 mph *intermittent vibrations*
Issue persist with summer/winter tires/rims.
To attempt to fix the issue I have.
Purchased 4 new tires/wheels (balanced, road force.. 3 times*)
Changed front and Rear Strut assemblies
Changed front control arms including ball joints
Changed CV drive Axel. both driver and passenger..
Changed intermediate steering shaft.
Every mechanic I bring it to says the front suspension is rock solid and there is no play or issues with the wheel bearings.
Issue still persist.. it's always intermittent.. it does it for 5 mins.. stops for 5.. does it for 2.. stops for 2.. over and over again. Regardless of weather/pavement.. straight line or curves.
I drive over 700 kilometres a week on the highway and I am losing my head attempting to find the issue..
Has anyone have any further ideas on what might be cause of the issue.

My thoughts...
Warped rotors / seized calipers, over-tightened lug nuts, loose tie-rod ends, bent rim, unbalanced wheels that resonate at highway speed and go away when you change speed slightly.
Question, what kind of rims are you using? If they aren't Lexus OEM, are you using hub-centric rings?

Since it's alway intermittent, you should be looking for a bad brake caliper. Piston sticking in the bore, failing to retract properly or hanging caliper slides.

Solved it! wheel bearings all the way around, no noise, no vibration and oh so smooth!
I replaced the front first and the vibration went away and with the front end quiet I could then hear how noisy the rear wheel bearings were. Two days later I replaced the rears and presto! Dead silence. The bearings only had 220,000 miles on them so they did not owe me anything. I have all of the tools and a 25 ton press so it only cost me $30 each front and $65 each rear. I did have to cut the outer cone off of the hub with a torch but that part was fun.
