Default important questions for the 98 es300, plzhlp

1.how do you reset the ecu..? unplug the fuse for 30 sec?

2. how can i test if i have a faulty injector spitting gas instead of spraying? would it throw a code?

3.the three ignition coils on mine all say Toyota they look original at what mileage should they be replaced?

4.are there only three coil packs? because the older ones have six... if i look in the back i only see spark plug wiring which i had changed along with the spark plugs

5.i need to know how to test for a weak coil on the 98, i unplugged one by one they each caused the car to stall out.

6.if i have a clogged injector i want to seafoam my car is it safe to do it through the brake booster hose?? i dont want to lock my engine i want to clean the fuel system and intake my car has a slight choke.

7. ive read the seafoam thread on here and not really so confident in dipping the hose into a third cup of seafoam any better ways?

Sounds like you need the ELM327 Bluetooth OBD2 adapter and a copy of Torque for your Android device. You can scan and reset your ECU with it. As for the coil packs, only replace them if you need too, like when a TuneUp won't make the miss fire go away and you find evidence of arc burns in the coil pack boots. Injectors? Adding seafoam to the intake will never get it inside the injectors but it will do great things for your intake. Search the forum for instructions on that. Then what I would do is prime your fuel filter with seafoam the 98 has a returnless fuel system so all of the seafoam you put there will go through the injectors. However you should scan your car. Blindly flinging parts at a problem can get expensive and the elm327 plus torque should cost less than $25

Let us know what you find and good luck!

It sounds like you have a rough idle due to carbon buildup in the intake. Get some carb cleaner and clean out your throttle body and especially the IACV inside of it.
