Question Tire Experts??...Need Advice

Hey CL family, just need some input on tire sizes. I have a 2001 ES300 with 206/60R16 tires and I am looking at some new or used summer / all season tires but I would like to know if these other sizes have been driven on anybody's cars and if the clearance was ok:

215/55R16 or
215/60R16

It just gives me some more options to look at when searching for new and used. I don't have the expertise to know what is safe or not. Thank you for the help as always CL.

You meant 205/60R16?

There are tire size calculators out there.....just keep the overall diameter the same.

Why not stick with factory size??

215/55/16 is identical (or very close to it) to OEM sizing.

That's what my old winter tires were for a few seasons... Got a better deal on those than the 205's.

They fit fine.

The 215/60/16 is too big, it will rub with passengers in the back... Again, car came with those for me when it came into the family...

I'm looking in the used market too, and sometimes sizes appear that are near the OEM, I just wanted to know what was safe.

check speed ratings on any tires you by. I wouldn't go any lower then a H rated tire. V rating is the best for these cars. Be careful when looking at used tires.
