CEL came on so i took it in and got it read. The problem was the heat 1 bank 1 sensor, so i changed it. the CEL came back on after 15 miles, got it read again, andnowits saying heat 1 bank 1 which i justed changed and heat 2 bank 1... I dont have a clue why it would be saying this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P0135 and P0155

The O2 sensor I got is BECK/ARNLEY 1564050 online from rockauto. My car is a 1998 ES300. Im trying to get this fixed so Ican pass emissions. Do you think if could possibly be a fuse in the circuit of something along those lines?

Take a look under your hood at the emissions sticker. Does it say "CA" on it?

I suspect that you used the wrong part.

Hmm, seems like you got the right sensor if you have a Federal Emissions ES. I would have liked to see a Denso or a Toyota sensor, as I don't trust other companies with these critical parts.

P0135 and P0155 are both related to the heater circuit resistance. It either means that your sensors are bad (unlikely), your wiring is bad, or your computer (ECM) is acting up.

I would go after the sensor first and check the resistance on the heater circuit with a Multimeter, like this one.

where is the heater circuit located? Or what fuse is the HO2s relay located, since I dont have a manual for my car...

It's a matter of checking the black wires on the sensor itself. You unplug it, connect a multimeter to the two contacts in the plug and take a reading.

Your readings should be between 11-16 ohms on a good heater circuit. Do it on the B2S1 sensor first, the one by the radiator, since it's the easier one to access.

isnt B1H1 the sensor thats easy to get to. Right infront as u open the hood latch?

B2S1 is next to the radiator. B1S1 is near the firewall and difficult to access.

If you thought otherwise, it makes me think that you created the code for B2S1 by swapping the wrong side.

Did the original sensor in B2S1 look the same as your replacement part? Or did it have smaller and less holes on it?

Lastly, get in contact with your Lexus dealer and give them your VIN, so that they can confirm if your car has Federal or CA emissions. It makes a huge difference when it comes to O2 sensors.

I put the old 02 sensor back in friday and checked the codes again, and you were right, i had changed the wrong sensor... Do you know of a good way to get at the other upstream sensor? I cant find a good way under or on top... Thanks luke

It's not easy. I unbolted mine from the bottom with a 3/8 socket wrench and disconnected the wire from the top by lying on the intake plenum. You will need at least a foot long handle on the ratchet to break the sensor free. I would also highly recommend to soak it in PB blaster or WD40, prior to turning it, or you may risk breaking the threads.

In regards to B2S1, if your code went away after putting the old one back, then your replacement part is either bad or not compatible with your car.

My problem is if I get the sensor off, how am I going to get the new one in the hole and start it without being able to reach it except with the socket. Wont it just spin in place and not start?
