100,000 Miles '01 ES300 Maintenance Repair
Greetings Earthlings!
Thought I'd throw this out......
My '01 ES300 has 99522 miles as of Monday. Took it to a different repair shop on Monday for new plugs and replace leaking valve cover gaskets. I just wanted to try them for comparison sake. They seem to have done a good job, although I wish now I had told them I wanted a 100,000 mile service so I wouldn't overlook anything. Bearing in mind this is 2014 and shops here in the Phila. Metro area typically charge $85-110 hourly rates my bill came to $505.45.
Tuesday, the temperature dropped to 4º with a high of 13º. Got in the car Wednesday and the parking brake warning light was on without the use of the parking brake, Never happened before but I kind of expected to replace the rear pads soon and thought it was due to lower fluid level. Made an appointment with my old shop (closer) Friday to get LOF and address the brake warning light.
Turns out, brake fluid had become contaminated causing some type of float to stick resulting in the warning light.
They also discovered what I suspected was rear pad replacement due and; the right front pad (replaced -10K) cracked resulting in a slightly warped rotor. Both pads and rotors replaced front, pads only rear.
End result - $584.88.
We got 12½" snow here Tuesday. I was able to drive it a little today (Saturday) before it snowed an additional 2½". It seems to stop much better even though I'm breaking in the pads.
will report back how well it does once the snow is gone and I can actually drive.
Just venting because I had to spend over $1000.00 this week. I use this forum as a valuable source of information. Now, my next project - one I think I can handle myself - is a twitchy Park, Neutral position Switch.
Apparently, the battery is removed followed by the battery tray leaving access to the switch. I first plan to disassemble the switch and try to clean and reinstall - they're expensive. Oh NOW I start thinking about saving money!
