My lexus smells like old people
I don't have anything against old people.
but my es300 smells like old folks.
I have air freshener but it still smells old.
its a 2000 es300.
my parents rx smells the same way.
my is300 doesn't smell like this.
what could it be?
its not like rotten or ac smell
more like leather but I don't think its leather because the car is 13 yrs old.
very curious and annoying since its not foul or effect anything besides my nose..

A few things to do are feel the carpet on passengers side, front and back. If they are damp and sticky the heater core might be suspect for leaking. Second thing is to remove the cabin air filter by the gas peddle and replace it. and third is to spray a disinfectant on the outside plastic grate where the outside air enters the heating system, and rinse with water hose the next day. Mold tends to grow there in damp climates.

Stop with the old people crap. With any luck, you might live to be old.
That said, a nice steam vac of the carpets and mats will help. Also, replace or install a cabin filter and see how you do.
If you use Tanner Leather Crème, it will restore the leather smell to your seats and door panels.

It probably smells because it's dirty and hasn't been taken care of properly. Young people tend to be spoiled and abusive, expecting everything to be given to them with no effort on their part. Get over it, quite blaming "old people", and clean up your act (and your car for a change)!

I know what you mean OP, old people don't even realize they have a 'scent' to them, but I'd try the: cabin air filter first, take it to a detailer to do a nice thorough shampoo on the inside.
Another thing would be those odor bombs that some detailers use.
