Default starter cost?

Hey everyone, I have a 03 es300 with 151000 and it won't start. All lights work. AAA said the battery was fine. No noise when i turn the key. How much does it cost to replace the starter? If thats what it really is. I don't want to get ripped off. Selinoid maybe?

Before changing the starter.

Tap the starter several times with a hammer, not too hard. See if it starts, also try starting it in Neural. If all fails it could also be your security system, or a loose cable. In tat case you'll need to ave the voltages at te starter verified.

Most auto parts stores will check your starter for FREE. I would rebuild it in case it's bad, you can get new contacts for under $20

Check your locks...if they don't fully actuate, they can open the door enough to let in but not enough to tell the computer the door is unlocked. When the computer see the door open (dome light circuit) it treats as unauthorized access (computer still thinks the door was locked) and disables the starter circuit.

Cycle the locks a few times. This just happened to me earlier this week when it rained for awhile then fell below freezing. Everything else worked but the starter.

+1. Very easy to replace the contacts. I used these guys....they are great to work with. I replaced my plunger too although the original one still looked very good. Usually only one contact is bad but they are dirt cheap so it makes sense to replace both.

To answer your original question, I paid around $140 for a new starter and solenoid for my 03 ES300. Fairly easy to replace the starter, just need to remove the battery and airbox to get access to the starter.
