Guys I have never used this feature on my 99 es300 mainly because it doesn't do anything when i turn it to automatic. If there a fuse that controls it or do i have a malfunctioning part? thanks

Maybe your automatic light control sensor doesn't work. Its definitely a PITA to swap out - or at least was the case with my 2000 Corolla. Other than that if they function normally when you turn the switch on normally then my guess would be the automatic light control sensor.

You could test this by turning the ignition switch to on, then turn the light control switch to automatic, then you just gradually cover the top of the sensor and verify whether or not the lights turn on outside or not. Likewise you could take your hand away gradually and see if the sensor will turn off the lights.

I believe there might also be a sensitivity **** on the sensor itself which will determine what light condition the automatic control will take place. If your lights turn on too quickly you would turn the **** counterclockwise, if the response from the light is slow, then you turn the sensitivity **** clockwise. So in your case maybe you need to turn the **** all the way clockwise.

But honestly if nothing is happening my guess is that the sensor went bad.
