I switched my emblems to black a while ago and honestly I like it much better than the chrome or gold ones any day, but thats just my opinion.

Regarding tinting the tails, there's a few ways to do it. One is with plastidip if you like the matte effect.

There's also tinting sprays, but these are permanent.

Finally, there's vinyl films in various levels of shade. I actually have two rolls, one designed for indoor use which has a moderate tint and another from RVinyl designed for lights. I haven't applied it because I'm happy with my Eagle Eyes lights.

Doesn't look good at all, looks like just cheap rattle-canned ebay emblems now.

I am doing the smoke plasti dip & then if you didn't know there's aldo a Glossifier Plasti Dip. Putting at least 5 coats of Smoke plasti dip and then another 5 coast of glossifier to take matte effect away.

or.... get glossy vinyl off ebay for less than what the plastidip will cost and all the unnecessary extra steps that go with it.

"Metro restyling" provide good vinyls.

I agree with a couple others here. I would have kept the gold or even chrome if it had it. Black just makes it look blah.

Don't be too quick to knock it... Lexus made OEM black emblems for these, called Black Pearl; think black chrome.

Gold or chrome looks better than the spray painted black.

Black pearl baby! I am embarrassed to say what I paid for set of those but they are discontinued and they do have a nice tinted chrome look! The straight black looks nice too I think. I am not a gold fan (my wedding ring is titanium and rosewood) it looks too gaudy in a "dealership took me for all they could including this lame gold trim package" sort of way.
