Exclamation 96 ES300 - Radio not working

Hey guys, so the other day I was pulling out my head unit (it is an aftermarket "Phase Linear UV8" flip out touch screen, a cheap crappy thing that came with the car. I was trying to fix it because whoever installed it didnt do it right so it would kinda slide in and out while i was driving. Anyway, when i was going to put it back in, i somehow ripped out both the power and ground wires from the harness (the one going into the aftermarket radio, the stock harness was fine). Ever since then, I haven't been able to get it to work, which wouldn't be a problem because I was planning to replace it anyway. The problem is when I try to plug the factory head unit in, it will turn on, raise the antenna, say its playing and everything, but no sound comes from the speakers. I have had the factory radio to working before so I don't think it's the problem. Also I've noticed that the speakers are making a very very quiet static sound, even when the car is off. I'm not sure if they did this before or not.. I'm thinking it may be something happened to the factory amp, but i can't really be sure, so I wanted to see if any of you can help me out before i have to spend a bunch of money at a car audio shop or the dealer to get it fixed so if anyone has any idea what this could be or had this happen before let me know and it would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

Check and see if you still have your stock amp. It will be under the seat. The previous owner might have hooked the speakers to the aftermarket headunit amp.
