I have a 2000 es300 and when I push the unlock botton on my keyfob it won't unlock the drivers door. If I press it a few times it unlocks the rest of the doors just fine. the trunk button pops just fine and everything. I even replaced the battery in the keyfob.

I was told this could be the "door lock actuator" for the drivers door.

Does this seem accurate?

It locks / unlocks all the other doors but the drivers door.

It is more likely to be a broken wire in the harness tube at the door jamb. Best way to check is to disconnect the actuator and plug in a multi meter and see if you are getting power to it.

Good thinking. I might also get the actuator also as long as i can return it. That way when i will only have to take my door panel off once. Since it works every once in a while I'm guessing it's not wiring... I can see the manual lock switch move a little when I push the lock/unlock button and I can hear it too.

I had the same thing for like 2 days then it fixed itself. I think its a dying actuator, but since the problem went away i never fixd anything. it on ly happened twice, once 3 years ago, and again a year later. After that i didn't happen again during the time i owned the car.

I believe he was referring to the electrical wiring which has nothing to do with the manual unlock and locking function as that is connected by a metal rod across the door to the door lock actuator. Also just a heads up in the future when I bought the door lock actuator, 05 was the most recent that the dealerships carried thus it had to be special ordered and for electrical components that are special ordered can't be returned, just a heads up for if it happens again and you end up needing to replace it.

Something I've noticed with intermittently working door lock actuators are that its generally two things, either one yes, its starting to fail and will eventually need to be replaced, or for whatever reason the ground wire has come loose. However, you can just check that by back probing the wiring harness with a t-pin or a paper clip and supplying an alternate ground. If that fixes the problem, you just take apart the wiring harness and re-clamp down the metal contact that goes into the wiring harness.
