2000 es300 noise coming from timing belt area
Almost as much work to I spect as to change. Timing belt was done 60,000 miles ago. Sounds like I'm making margaritas under the timing cover. What could that be?

It's not anything I hear from inside the vehicle. But with the hood open OR if standing on the passenger side of car it just doesn't sound like a "luxury" car should sound like.

Mine is dead quiet. But when I do a timing belt job I replace everything it touches. Water pump, tensioner pulley, idler pulley, and I always replace cam seals. I bet you have an idler pulley going bad. The idler pulley takes all of the vibration and force in the system. Most shops only replace the obvious parts E.G. water pump and belt. These parts all wear out at some point, but if not replaced Murphy's law states that they will fail in the middle of the expected life of the timing belt.

Sorry no sound bites. Took to my mechanic, he thinks it's valves. Due the the high miles and the fact it runs very well he recommends running it as is. FYI, I rolled past 250,000 miles today. Of this mobile app wasn't so riddled with errors I would post the pic.
