I made it! Had the car for 25,000 miles and a little under two years.

I figured since this is such a major milestone, I should do a list of everything that I've done in that time. I hope this helps some other people who might be thinking about a high mileage ES and would like to see what will need attention.

Original Major issues:
Valve Covers and the Camshaft Seals were leaking
Radio/HVAC Lights were Burned Out
Rear Sway Bar Links were shot
Driver CV Axle was spewing grease
Dirty IACV was causing a rough idle and misfire codes

The Front Brakes were shot
Check Engine Light (incorrect oxygen sensor used)
Driver Headlight was damaged by a deer.
Mismatched Rear Tail Lamps (related to an accident)

lol, i always wanted to make a list of the things i did....and i tried...and it got too long and i just scrapped it.
now my mod list is probably just as long as the repair list lol..maybe i should start thinking about the mod list

Wish I had this much money to spend on the upkeep of mine. Thinking I need injectors and suspension overhaul most right now, but lack of Air con and audio is killing me.

I've got 30k till I hit the big 200 though, so maybe I'll have my stuff together then.

Car looks great. What rotor+pad combo are you going to do on the rear?

I was going to use Toyota parts, but the return on the investment just isn't there. The rear brakes are mostly there for stability, as they do not do much of the braking. That's why I'm planning to go with Premium Centric Rotors and Posi-Quiet Ceramic Pads. They are very good at resisting corrosion, which is what you want in the rear.

I am at +280k miles (+450k km) on my 97 ES300. I also have a list of all the maintenance.

As for rotors, I use premium ones. The brake pads, I just use the cheap ones.

How much do you think you've spent since you've had it? At what mileage did you buy it at?

Not sure if you were asking the OP (i.e. MrBooby) or me.

As for myself, beside regular fluid changes, normal wear and tear stuff (i.e. brake/suspenion/tires), exhaust pipe, timing belt and spark plugs, etc.....normal stuff....not much. I do everything myself if I can...including timing belt change. I am still on original alternator, starter, steering components...

I bought it from my old man (who was the original owner) at 125k miles.

Thank you. I've always used 5W30 Full Synthetic with a Toyota filter. Used Pennzoil and Valvoline, but started sticking with Mobil 1 as of late. No good reason, just being brain washed by their marketing. I get my oil from Walmart, so it really doesn't matter what brand I get, they're all within $3 of each other.
I'm glad I'm not alone. It's the perfectionist in me that keeps it going.

Have an 1998 ES 300 with 524,000 miles on it. I am the original owner from the showroom with 22 miles on it. My maintenance list is not as long as yours, but there are always some items that could use repair. Next on the list is new exhaust from the Cat on back.

What a great car! Drive it about 170 miles R/T to work, 5 days a week. Always runs good, and mileage between 28 and 29 mpg.

Take a bunch of pictures and send them to Lexus. I've never seen an ES with over 500k mi, come to think of it, haven't seen one with over 300k on this forum.

Who knows, they might publish an article in the new magazine they send to their customers and hook you up on a new car purchase!
