I just pulled a 92 Es 300 out my parents barn after sitting from mid 2011 and the back window will not come clean i don't want to put any chemicals on it and Windex did not touch it. Any help Thanks will post pictures tomorrow some time.

Is that on the inside or outside? Regardless, something you could possibly try is maybe claybaring the window. This probably is best treatment if this is on the outside, as you can use something like rainx glass treatment which will also help improve wet driving visibility. Just a suggestion though,

That is on the inside it makes it impossible to see out of the rear view mirror

is there tint on there? kinda looks like tint that's going bad and needs to be replaced...

do they come from the factory with tint? a previous owner might have put it on it was a phoenix car when my Father bought the car. If i have time to day i will look at removing it if it is tint.

i tried 99% isopropyl alcohol and it did not help at all i look closer and it does not look like tint so, i was in the junk yard the other day and found a Camry that has a clear intack window so i might have them pull that out and get mine replaced.

That definitely looks like ether an old tint film, or glue from the tint. I know you said it doesn't look like it, but based on the age, picture, and the fact that the side windows are tinted I have a feeling that it's either the old film or the glue. Brining it to a tint shop and having them look at it would be cheaper than replacing the glass. I could be wrong and the window itself is losing it's lamination like on the old mercedes s-classes, but I have never seen that problem one lexus.

Your second photo shows a very vinyl look at the horizon. I can't believe that it's the glass. They don't use laninated glass in the rear window. If you are actually considering replacing the window, then I suggest that you use a bit of "goo gone" or other adhesive remover in a small spot to see if it can be removed.

i was thinking of getting it tinted any way, just afraid of doing anything to mess up the defrosters wires. what is the easiest way to remove tint?

before replacing perfectly fine window (i mean its not cracked) try a bunch of chemicals to dissolve the gunk! How about that "orange" stuff that takes of sticky labels? http://www.gunk.com/products/DET_GOB33.ASP

this stuff costs a few bucks, but does magic with glass (we have glass top oven and it cleans it like nothing else) and stainless steel appliances/surfaces: http://www.barkeepersfriend.com/ try this on small surface in the corner first to make sure its not scratching.

im 100% sure you can clean this stuff off, besides you've got nothing to lose.

You can also try WD40. Its excellent at removing such sticky stuff. But whatever you try, just make sure that you rub parallel to the defroster wires and not perpendicular to them. This way you will not damage them.

Put some newspaper on the top shelf below the window to catch any drippings.
