Just purchased a 2000 ES 300 that needs a lot of TLC and has 164,000 miles. Needs a lot of minor fixes and a deep detail, but it is running great. There is something loose inside the front right dashboard, possibly the blower motor as it is making some occasional noise also.

New member from CMH
Inherited service and maintenance responsibility of a one owner 135k 1999 ES300 from my girl friend. This forum has been a helpful source of information and opinions yesterday and today. The dash has as many colored lights glowing on it as a Christmas tree. I'll be back!

Howdy, all. I am new to the forum and to Lexus in general.
I just got an ES300 for my daughter to drive. It was my Aunt's car and she bought a new car and we bought her old one for my daughter.
It's in very nice physical shape, and once I work through the deferred maintenance it should be an excellent example. I've flushed the brake system, and am in the process of sourcing parts for the timing belt/water pump/cam seal/crank shaft seal/valve cover gaskets...etc.
I'll post a photo once I figure out how to upload to the forum, but I just wanted to say hello, and thanks in advance for the collective knowledge of the group, which I will be drawing on as I get to know this car. (I hope the search function works well, LOL)
Best,
Andrew

ES transmission issue
Hi - New member with a 2002 ES 300 loaded with everything but the adjustable suspension. I read the thread on transmission problems (17 pages) and registered right after because I did not see anything on the 2010 ECU flash update. Has anyone had this reflash done?
Thanks,
Chuck

Chuck

I haven't read hardly any bad anything about the car. Unfortunately I have been driving for so long I don't know whats normal on the car and what is not in terms of issues
As for the 1 month I have had it, I have a chronic check engine light with banks P0171 & P0174 after 2 attempts taking it to the dealer P0171 is back.
Additionally, they cleaned the fuel injectors which has resulted in a slight clicking/ ticking sound. They replaced the Mass Air sensor. Still have P0171
As far as the transmission goes I am a little paranoid because it seems like when I am slowing down that it rpm jumps slightly..though it seems like that is happening cause its downshifting until I stop. I don't remember my old vehicle doing that.
Anyways, this forum has been great cause it helps me to know that my sensor issues is not life threatening to the car however, I am looking forward to getting it checked by a Lexus dealer next week.
I will post a pic soon

I purchased 2 1996 es300's in the last year. One with 200,xxx plus, the other with 120,xxx.
The one with 220,xxx miles runs great. New timing belt, changed all the spark plugs and put new tires on it. Runs magnificently. I bought it in Apr. of 2013. The second one I bought last month, it is the sport edition, I haven't driven it much yet. The gear shifter is bad and need to get it fixed, parts had to be ordered and are in. Someone put a cold air intake valve in, so it drives and sounds a lot different, once I get the gear shifter fixed, and some new tires, it will be ready to go.
Both cars still look pretty sharp on the exterior and interior.
