Default 2002 ES300: Jack-stand placement and scissor-jack questions

Sorry at the outset for the super basic questions.

I have tried a couple different pneumatic jacks (for which there is a spot at the front center to raise the car) but was disappointed to see both dropped the car too swiftly for my comfort. So I've usually ended up using a scissor jack to change wheels.

Since I am about to change front brake pads, I wish to place the car on jack-stands-- and jack-stands are apparently are supposed to be placed exactly where the scissor jack is placed to raise the vehicle. Does this mean that scissor jacks cannot be used if jack-stands are to placed on 2002 es300?

If I am not supposed to use the scissor-jack (if I also want to place jack-stands), is it okay to let the car drop/slam down 2 to 3-inches onto jack-stands?

Last, the scissor jack spot is a thin slice (between the notches) that slides into the scissor-jack head. The jack-stands I purchased have a flat surface on top, it doesn't look feasible to place the slice-area on the jack-stand-- or am I wrong?

Again, I realize these are too basic questions, but I haven't seen clear-cut answers. So here I am. :-)

TIA.
