Help! Car is down, ignitor solved the problem for a week
Hey guys,
This all started while I was driving, car died. Got it started back up, die a couple minutes later. Got the car back home. Tried two different OBDII scan tools, and neither one of them could pull codes.
So after a lot of research, I decided to replace the igniter. Instantly ran (great) for about 5 days. Now, as of today, I'm back to the same symptoms and the car will not even start ( crank, no start). It left me sitting on the side of the road. I was luckily able to get it to a parking spot.
HELP!!!!!

Can you use the scan tool and record live data, or mode 6 data to post here. You are not giving much info to go on. Try disconnecting the battery terminals for 15 minutes while you clean them, reconnect and try running the car again .

Neither one of the scan tools will connect. One tries to but comes with an error and says it can't connect. I also tried jumping the terminals for codes. Nothing. Just tried what you suggested.. Crank no start

Not all scan tools like Lexus. Do some hillbilly troubleshooting. Hold your fingers on the EFI relay to check for a click when the key is turned on. Use a piece of rubber fuel line with a screw driver handle held to the end, and the flat tip on the injectors to see if they are clicking or making a thud sound as you crank. Pull the plug wire off the easiest to get to plug on the back cylinder bank, and attach a spare plug to the wire, and use a pair of locking vice grips to attach the plug to an engine ground, and watch for spark while cranking. Pull the gas cap, and listen for the fuel pump hum right after the key is turned on. Put tour hand close to the exhaust exit to check for air flow.

You need to find out why you can't get any scanner to connect to the ECU. When you turn the key to on but don't start the car, do you have a CEL?

if it were me, first thing I'd do is find out if it's lack of spark or lack of fuel. Spray some starting fluid into the intake and try to start it. If it fires, it's a lack of fuel, Maybe the fuel pump went out. If it doesn't fire, then it's lack of spark and you can then diagnose from there.

I took a coil pack off, put a spark plug to it, and there was no spark.
Update:
I took the car to a friend and decided to let him diagnose the problem. Turned about to be a bad ECU!
