I am still trying to find a code reader. I went to autozone to have them read the codes since I found the obd2 read port only to have them tell me it was not a standard port and they could not plug into it. I had them search online for an available code reader and they have nothing that will read it. I need help fing one.?

hmmm, interesting challenge. I'm thinking maybe there is an adapter plug from the Lexus to standard obdII reader. maybe you can find the plug on ebay, OR.... might have to pucker up and get Toyota to read the code. i'm thinking cost of adapter might be more than cost of having dealer read it ?

toyotanation is a very good website aswell to ask something like this.

What's weird about your reply is that I used to have a 94 Camry 4 Cylinder. That car was definitely OBD1.

So maybe the 94 Camry 4 Cylinder were OBD1, but the 94 Camry V6 were OBD2. The difference could also be related to the actual production date of the 94 Camry, or even the 94 es300 Lexus

Go figure.

Phil

Default Results?

What was the result of the issue? My 1994 Lexus es300 is having the same problem: won't shift into low gear, blinking O/D light, check engine light.

don't know exact answer but you should be able to retrieve the CEL code. On my 1992 it was OBDI: I had to open the hood, find black plastic box and jump a paper clip in 2 specific terminals, then the dash would flash a certain number of blinks and tell you (do a search for how to retrieve CEL codes, probably even a "sticky" on it)

Others seem to have OBDII, which is easier to retrieve and more accurate info. If you end up with knock sensor code, much easier to replace with a working "dummy" sensor mounted on accessible side of block/valve cover area, then plug in the wiring connector there.

Default OD/OFF light flashing

Me too ... just an hour ago the OD/OFF light on my 1994 Lexus ES300 started blinking. So far the transmission seems to be workin normally (including overdrive).
Should I be worried?
