Default Location of trunk release lever (inside trunk) 1997 es300

Well....heres the problem.

I have a very important item in my trunk, my trunk opener button on the left side of the steering wheel no longer works.....and YES I have already checked to see if it is the button in the glovebox...and its not, it just doesnt work anymore.

Recently my key wont even open up the trunk

So here is the hassle, I have a HUGE subwoofer box in my trunk and can barely move it around so I hope that wont be a problem, I removed my back seat and got in my trunk and looked EVERYWHERE for the interior trunk release lever in my car but couldnt find it, WHERE IS IT !?

There isn't one. I don't have one in my '99 either. Internal trunk release weren't mandated before 2000.

If you're using a valet key it won't work. Use your master key, and if that does not work, try another master key if you have one. If none works spray some lock lubricant inside the trunk key hole and retry.

Does your key not turn in the trunk lock? Or does it turn yet the trunk does not open?

Is your Master Key a Remote Master Key?, If so, does the Trunk Open Button on the Remote not work either?

Does your key work on the glove compartment lock? If not, than its either not a Master Key, or your Key is defective. Do you have another Master Key you can try?

If you can somehow crawl into the trunk, remove the trunk lid liner and activate the latch manually. You could also apply power from a 9 volt battery to the latch motor that would probably operate the power mechanism.

I know, old thread, but in case anyone else ever has this problem....another way I've gotten into trunks that were seemingly stuck was to put downward pressure on the trunk lid in order to properly align the locking mechanism. Occasionally you'll even need to apply upward pressure on the trunk to get the key to engage the lock properly.

I've also found a generous amount of PB Blaster plus lots of jiggling helps....lol
