Who's right about clearing ECU?
I have seen several conflicting answers on the Internet for clearing ECU on a 2000 Lexus ES300 and was wondering if anyone knows for sure what works. Here are the options I have read so far:
1. Take it to Auto Zone and have it cleared with scan tool. (I went to Auto Zone today and was told they no longer will do this because of liability issues).
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal for periods ranging from 30 seconds to "over night" and reconnect.
3. Instead of battery, disconnect ECU fuse. Turn ignition key on. Wait 5 minutes. Turn key off. Replace fuse.
4. Neither disconnecting the battery or fuse will work on a Lexus newer than 1997.
Does anyone know the REAL solution?
