Solution for stumbling hesitation on 2000 es300
Thought I would share some information on fixing my 2000 es300. I was experiencing hesitation when the car was usually at normal operating temperature. Normally it would only happen when I was at a dead stop and would start to drive. I checked numerous different things and changed out numerous parts. I finally bought the factory service manual.
Anyway...It turned out to be the Number 2 air intake control valve. It is part of the acis system. It is located on the plenum or upper intake manifold on the very far left side. It is not connected to anything electrical only mechanical. There is a vacuum line attached to this "plunger". When I sucked on the vacuum line it would not hold vacuum. I bought the new one and it holds a vacuum. Installed it by removing 4 nuts. The bad news is that this part cost $290 from my local toyota dealer. I couldn't find an aftermarket one from any auto parts store. Oh and you have to buy the entire assembly with the valve. You can't just by the plunger thing.
I hope someone finds this information useful.
