95 es300 overheating problem
Hey people new here. been lurking and searching to see if anyone had any similar problems as i have but to no avail. anyways a little backstory. My sis had got a new car in oct 2012, so she asked if i wanted her 95 es. i said yeah, then sandy hit and i was without power for about 2 weeks so couldnt get down to jersey to pick up the car. fast forward to now the car has been sitting since sandy not been started, tires flat and battery dead. anyways before my sis got her new car she had the water pump and a new radiator put it because the car was overheating on long drives from central jersey to ny. just recently i got the car started and was letting it warm up. after warming it up, i revved the engine and noticed that the temp gauge would go and stay up each time i revved the engine.
im wondering what it could be, could there be air in the system thats causing that and if not that any ideas would be much appreciated. i know this is long winded but im looking for help

i have a 96 es300 and i had a similar overheating problem if the radiator and water pump where replaced did the do the timing belt at the same time cause the pump is drivin off of it and its important to keep the upper and lower ends from meeting in a bad way. anyways the thermostat and gasket could have gone bad and its cheap insurance to replace it. as for the gauge get it may be getting a power on it signal wire or grounding out somehow but i havent seen that happen when mine was getting hot. i would check the temp at the motor with a infared temp gun and check the temp at the upper and lower hoses, the thermostat, and the sending unit and see the actuall temps and see if it is getting hot. i do hope this helps ya'll out

You might have a bad head gasket. =(. I'm in the process of having mine done. I should be picking up the car either today or tomorrow. I had very similar experiences.
You can try letting your car cool down and peaking into the radiator. You should see fluid, if you don't, it's probably leaking or going somewhere else. Put some fluid in.
Turn on the car, and turn up the heat to max, watch your exhaust, do you see any white smoke?
Has your car lost power?

i do see white smoke coming out of the exhaust when i turn the heat up. unfortunately i cant determine whether the car has lost power, as 2 tires are low on air and i have to jump start the battery in order to start it. i have to wait till next week when im off for a couple of days to go pick up a battery
