Exclamation 1993 Lexus ES300 Hard Shift 1st to 2nd

I have a 1993 Lexus ES300 that shifts hard from first to second. Seems to be way more smoother from cold start though and it will also randomly NOT do it sometimes as well. I have played with 2 different TPS,s thinking that might have been the issue from my knowledge and research. Just to add a Lexus TPS seems to be temper mental. The shifting patterns are kinda screwy too. It will shift into 4th then shift immediately into 5th. The more I research I think maybe the speed sensor could be the problem. But I'm not clear on if there's an input and a output or only one or the other. Also the RPM's change when I step on the brakes. Any help would be much appreciated.

How does the transmission fluid look / smell? When is the last time it was replaced? Those are the first things I would look into. BTW these transmissions only have 4 speeds, so maybe you're feeling it shift from 3rd to 4th?

how many miles on the transmission? you dont really have a choice at this point, keep driving until it craps out on you. dont see what else you can do here.

They do sell that tranny fix fluid, might help, i think Lucas makes one. But if you got a lot of miles on it (especially city miles, constant stop and go a lot of shifting to 1-2 gears) it just may be aproaching the end of its life. You never know with these things.

Clear fluid does not mean much, although it is a good sign, you need a record of when it was replaced.
