puddle lights?
hi guys, i want to install puddle light on my es but I want it to fade out like my dome light do. can anyone tell me where to wire them up to?

Are you using LEDs or incandescent?
You would wire them up to any circuit that has the fadeout, like the interior lights. I haven't looked at the wiring diagram for those, but usually the lights are wired to power and the ground side is controlled by one of the ECUs like a body controller.
The issue you might have: this is an old car, so it probably has lighting not designed for LEDs. The fadeout circuitry in whatever controller might not be compatible, dimming an incandescent light used to be done in a way that does not work for LEDs (voltage vs. duty cycle) though I am not sure how the fade works in the Lexus.
Conversely if you use an incandescent light the power draw is significant, much more than an LED. If you add it to an existing "fadeout" circuit, it could overload the controller and fry some circuitry.

Im planning on using LEDs. I tried wiring them from the dome fuse but I would get the reverse effect. but if I go straight from the dome it works just the same as the dome. so that's where I'm a little confused.

Good to know so it should work fine.
The fuse in the box may just be a supply, the controller is likely controlling the ground side of the circuit to fade, you can't just ground your LEDs anywhere it needs to be on the same circuit...
OK let me check the service manual...the wiring is pretty confusing there, the "dome" fuse supplies a number of different lights and there are a few diodes in line. It does supply the dome light, the other "ground" side of the dome (and the ring around the ignition switch) is wired to the Integration Relay. That unit will control the fade. The easiest way to get the same effect is to wire whatever you want to behave the same, to the dome light wires.
