You have reflector HIDs, fairly rare. Not sure what to do with the wheel though.

Nice, thank you for the response. Are you able to tell just by looking at the headlamps?

If you look at a few pics of the common halogen equipped HIDs you'll see even from far away they look different enough you can tell at a glance. 90% of 97-01 ES300s you see on the street will have the normal Halogens, so take not when you see another ES like yours. Take a look at my HID thread someone posted a before and after pic you can see.

The stock HIDs have an auto leveler system, required by fed law on all US cars with HIDs to prevent blinding other drivers when you put a load of bricks in the trunk. ;-)

It looks like you have the "sage" interior which is basically grey. That explains the wood wheel you bought being too tan as it must have come from an "Ivory" interior car which is the tan color. FYI there are only three interior colors Sage, Ivory and Black.

Yup, noticed that. Shows how much my mechanic knows when he told me they weren't HIDs. My driver side headlight goes out after a while of being on, I have to click my headlight switch on and off so it can turn back on. I am looking for a fuse issue tomorrow.

Also, anyone looking for an "ivory" brownish colored wood grain steering wheel?

Your driver side HID ballast might be on its way out. A ballast is what powers the HID bulb.
