Thumbs up !!1loudlex's wood mounting kit!!

Just got this pic back. It is of my dvd player and my REAL wood mounting kit that i made. I had to cut it out, stain it a couple of times, real pain in the a$$. Then I put about 18 layers of urethane on it. I like how it looks. Just thought you guys might be interested.

Post Its not missing.

Its not missing.. Its my custom center channel speaker... I took all of it apart and put a center channel speaker in it from a home speaker. I then wrapped it in speaker grill cloth, and thats why it lloks like that.

Default I would love to.

I would make you one, but It is hard to match up the colors, and to make it fit just right. If you are serious, I could try, but i would have to charge you a couple of bucks. you aso have to have your deck iso mounted in order for this piece to go on. Let me know.

From the pic, the burl of the wood and the finish are a perfect match. Where did you source your wood, and how much trial and error did it take to find a stain to match so well?

It is matched up pretty well. If the sun hits it exactley, you can see a different shade. it was a pain in the a@@ to try to match it up. i had cut 3 different pieces of wood, and one of them fit just right. It isnt even burlwood, i just used a couple of different stains to make a burlwood effect and it worked. The worst part of it all was the like 16 layers of urethane that I just poured onto the piece over a 1 week period. At first in the heat in the summer it was begining to warp, then after a while it just set into to place perfectly. Overall, in the end i was very happy with what it looks like.

That looks awesome! Is that a Clarion system? I was going to get the 7" screen system that has the CD player below it and the the seperate DVD player below that to take up the double DIN space that the stock stereo takes up.

The wood kit the local installer is going to put in is a laminate so it will not compare to the quality that you have done on your real wood kit but when I eventually do it, I will post it here.

It may be awhile though 'cause that whole system and install I just mentioned is $2700.

BTW, does anyone know of a wood kit that would fit over the A/C Controls or if the front plastic panel of the A/C can be removed?

Laters
