On top of this, without a projector housing for HID, it gives an illusion you are seeing more. The reality is the brighter foreground potentially limits how far the driver can actually see down the road because the pupil shrinks (because of the bright foreground) limiting the eye to be able to capture light at a distance; not mentioning potentially blinding other drivers.

Yea it wasn't hard at all all you gotta do is take your fogs out then use a heat gun on low temp just heat around the lenses very lightly tho and at the same time slowly pry the lenses out of the case then once the lens is off you just take the two screws holding the shield in out then when it's time to put it back together just stuff the lens back into the case and heat it slowly again and slowly push it back into place and that's it your basically reusing the glue it has just reheating it...

I'm actually just looking to replace bulb on my 93, and it seems to be H3 based on these replies. Is it a yellow H3, or clear (and the lens is what sort of yellows it up?) ?

so how do you re& re ?

H3 bulb is a 55W halogen, and available in a few different tints. They're just for looks and the reflector is so small it won't make any difference in distance lighting unless you retrofit a projector. I use a 25W CREE led replacement.

I noticed local department store has 100W H3 bulbs. Will those be noticably different, or is the extra wattage a potential problem:as in needing more power or heavier wiring ?

I have tried these GE Nighthawk and Sylvania lights that claim to give 50% ++ better lighting and never noticed a difference. HIDs with the ballasts are noticeably different.

I kind of like the extra, limitied illumination the fog lights provide down low. I'm not going to change it out beyond a bulb though.

Won't make a huge difference. I wouldn't run a 100w bulb because it would be such a small gain. The Silverstar H3 I tried was actually a little brighter than a standard Sylvania bulb, but all it did was create a small light just a few feet long at the base of the car. That's not worth 110 watts of power consumption. Because the reflector is so small, it's just for looks so you might want to go with a LED solution.

thanks SaigaX. I do notice when driving some additional lighting from the fog lights. nothing crazy, but it does help some.

I have factory HID headlights. They totally overwhelm the Fog lights output. I can't even tell if they're on.

So basically they do absolutely nothing in my case.
