2002 ES3000 fuel line humming/buzzing
I've been going crazy trying to figure out where the humming/buzzing has been coming from on my 2002 ES300. Brought it in to my mechanic and he ended up repairing and replacing the clamp on my exhaust which alleviated some of the noises but not all. Another mechanic told me that it was the fuel lines where the noise/humming was coming from and would get louder and quieter while driving. He tried everything from a wedge to electrical tape and none seemed to work. When he held the lines with his hand, the humming was barely audible. He couldn't fix it he told me but does anyone have any idea what to do on the forum? Saw a fix elsewhere with pipe foam wrap and twist ties which I may try. Anyone else have ideas? Noise gets really bad and otherwise the car is great just don't want to spend more money on it. Spent almost a 1000 fixing everything thinking that was the problem. Help!

I had a buzzing sound awhile back but it was a noisy fuel pump.
Do you know the exact location where the noise is emanating from? You could try some of that spray foam insulation stuff that comes in a can.

bang on! it probably is the fuel pump but if I secure the fuel lines, will it not stop the all the caterwauling? When I or the mechanic held down the fuel lines, the noise ceased and he suspected that if replacing the fuel pump, the noise would cease except I had already spent around $500. trying to get rid of the noise in the first place. The noise has decreased but is still there because of fuel pump. Perhaps I'll wait awhile then replace. He quoted me $500. for the fuel pump also. I heard that someone used pipe tubing secured around the fuel lines on a VW to make the noise stop. Anyone ever heard of this method or is the fuel pump replacement the way to go?
