Default Replacing ECM with a used one

Anyone know if you need to do anything special when you replace your ECM with a used unit? I got one from eBay and put it in my car to troubleshoot some wierd issues and test drove the car after putting it in. The CEL comes on as soon as you put it in gear. The code is p0753 shift solenoid A. As a result the car will not seem to shift properly. With the old ECM I did not have any shifting problems at all. The issue with the old ECM was the car would not run past 800 rpms after the car heated up. The CEL would come on but reset after you turned off the key so no stored codes. I thought I read somewhere that when you swapped out an ECM you need to let the car idle for 30 minutes, but now I can't find that post.
Thanks!

Not sure with Lexus but on other vehicles you need to compare vins from the old ecu and new. Not ALL are completely interchangeable. Sometimes once installed it has to go to the dealer for programming. ????
