Default 1993 Strut to knuckle bolts

My front bolts have fused pretty tight together, ive soaked them in WD-40, and proceeded to break 2 adjustable spanners trying to loosen them up.

I havent got the right sized socket (auto store doesnt stock them that big, 22-23mm.) and i cant get one till next week.

Is there some trick im missing to getting these off, or should i just wait till i have the perfect tools for the job?

You need the proper tools. Wait until you have them, or you risk damaging the fastener and then you'll need even more tools to get them out. A 1/2" breaker bar that doesn't bend much is your best bet combined with a 3 foot cheater pipe. It will make short work of just about anything on the car.

Oh god, breaker bars are expensive here haha. I will do though! Certainly tougher than I thought getting the struts off. Depending how much the tools are going to cost I might get a shop to do it, im already at $100 from jack stands and a deep socket set to do the rears. >_< Not to mention my good spanners!

Plus, i'll get an alignment out of it too!

Thanks for that Lexus2000. Ill see how i can go getting the tools

You definitely need a breaker bar and a 22" socket.

You can use a 1/2" drive ratchet with a cheater bar, will work. I actually prefer this method because most ratchets don't have any flex to them, flex is your enemy when removing highly stuck bolts. I use a circa 1972 Craftsman for stuff like this, love the thing.

Can you buy a ratchet with lifetime warranty anywhere?

Really? I always thought the opposite. I have both, so I use the bar to break the bolt loose and then spin it off with a ratchet.

I could be wrong, maybe it depends on the brand/type. I have two 1/2" ratchets, neither flex at all that I can tell. I also have two breaker bars, one flexes quite a lot, the other less so but it does.

This is my preferred 1/2" ratchet. If you can find these used on Ebay or anywhere else I strongly recommend to people they snap them up, extremely well made tool that is nearly unbreakable.

You shouldn't use a ratchet for seized bolts, that's what a breaker bar is for. You'll strip the ratchet.
You also shouldn't be using an adjustable crescent wrench to work on a car at all, really.

I bought one of these cheap breaker bars at Harbor Freight for $9, and it works perfect:

I'd get the right tools. If you can't buy them in a pinch, I'd try and find a way to borrow some. It's not worth it to keep breaking tools and ruining bolts.
