Default How to eject cartridge (CD Changer)

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 1992 Toyota Windom (same as a Lexus ES300). It comes with a 12 disk cd changer. I can't seem to eject the cartridge from it. Should it just be a simple matter of pressing the "eject" button on the face of the cd changer or is something else involved?

The changer is in the trunk, by the way.

Thanks guys

Not familiar with that model or CD changer, but if it's located in the trunk there should be some button or mechanism to eject/pop out the CD changer in order to load it. It differs from car to car though. If you can't figure it out post a pic and I may understand bettter.

If it does not eject the changer is dead or otherwise without power. CD changers typically have a manual eject if you need to get the cartridge out but you would have to remove the changer to find the release most likely.

Hey guys,

I'm pretty sure it's dead. It definitely has power. I've opened it up and taken the casing off. When I hit the "eject" button on the door of the changer, the door flips open and a few gears in the back half of the changer move momentarily. The eject button is also backlit.

I thought that maybe pushing the cartridge forward into the changer would cause a release mechanism to let go, but no such luck. I'm fairly certain that the process should be as simple as pushing the "Eject" button.

Oh well. Maybe I'll find a used 6-disk changer at a wrecker.

Thanks for the help guys.

Jason
