I replaced front and rear struts on my 97 ES300 due to screaky noises coming from the front. The mechanic said that all four needed to be replaced. and now I have noises from the rear when I go over a bump that I didn't have before. There is also road noise from the rear when I am on the open road that didn't exist before. Any ideas?

Did he replace the strut mounts?

Other things that can contribute to noise:
- sway bar bushings
- sway bar endlinks
- lower control arm ball joints
- lower control arm bushings
- tie end rods
- loosen fasteners

I have the same thing. Kind of annoying, when EVERYTHING is new under the car. Less bushings to trailing arms/control arms in rear & bushings for control arms up front.

But, there was a member on here that posted a .pdf explaining a potential cause where the way they mounted the bracket to the rear control arms actually conflicts with the body at certain suspension travel ranges. The fix? Hammer it out more towards one direction.

I'd post it, but don't have that manual anymore.

I don't think the struts mounts were replaced.

If the mechanic didn't replace the mounts with the struts I would seriously find a new mechanic.

This is a commun issue with all the Camry/Es300 for those years. Check my posts and many other. We are looking for a solution for this matter for months. Latteral control arms seem to possibly be a solution. Check my posting...and good luck

I have had the strut mounts and struts replaced and the noise is still serious. its a es300 1999. I have also had the knock censors replaced, new belts, tune ups, oil changes and now 150000 miles a rebuilt transmission. It looks great, and I am sure hoping it continues to run good for another 100000 miles. I havent heard of having to change transmission fluid in a car before, but i would suggest it now, due to the transmission going out with alot of metal shavings in the pan and everywhere else. They are rebuilding my transmission for 1800? is this a good price or should i be looking around? I was also recommended to only have a transmission shop do the work, not just any machnic.... would you agree?

The price is OK. Expecting anything less than that would be silly. With relation to your third question, unless you have an independent transmission expert mechanic who stands behind his word, you're better off biting the bullet and taking the car to a transmission shop. There are a lot of complaints against AAMCO, Cottman, you name it... , but there aren't many options left.
But tell me that you were kidding when you said that you haven't heard of having to change transmission fluid in a car before...

You have to check other things too...lower control arm, sway bar endlinks and bushings, tie rod, etc...

I change my transmission fluid every 15,000 miles. I am still on original transmission and running perfectly fine. I am at 270,000 miles.

yeah, I am some where between 175K to 178K I just can't wait to just replace it. my goals are a bit funnier. I don't want to be paying for 2 car notes. I would get rid of my Es300 if I get what I had invested. I have over $4,500.oo. But the $4,000.oo would be duable. Its worthy.
But I am going to hang tie with it and just place more millage to make it legit that its is a 1997. I don't want doubts on credibility when i try to sale. I hear many people going way over 250K on theirs. i am sure mine would at least get there strong.
the best part of those cars. They are very dependable and they would pass inspection very strong. No check engine light for little things that are unecessary. I just took my car to MD state inspection and they mechanic looked for all possible problems. Found nothing but the fact my rims are 1" bigger then the original and my tint windows were 1% under requirement. I got them off and passed inspection the same day. but it cost me some money to get some rims.
