Newbie to the club..... 98 Es300 Fuel Door, Floor Mat & Radio Questions
Hi guys, I am new to club lexus and I just make a purchase on a used 98 ES300 the past weekend.
1>>>>>> I can't open the fuel door and I did some research and I think it's the Spring that's causing this problem, can anyone please advice what part number it is and if there's instruction on how to have it replace?
2>>>>>> Is there anywhere I can buy some new OEM carpet for my car for cheaper then going into the local stealership?
3>>>>>> The LCD screen as well as some light on my radio is out, what's the best solution to have it fix?? Or I should just buy another one off ebay? but it's like 250 bucks!!!
Thanks a lot for your help and have a nice day

Welcome!
As far as the fuel door. In your trunk there is an access to a little fuel door opener thing. You should be able to find it behind the trunk covering inside (one whichever side your fuel door is located). Pull it and the door should open.
As for a replacement, just go to a local junk yard and get one.

I have the same ? about the radio. I have to just use "scan" and wait until I hear something I like, and play with the buttons until I get to the correct cd/song. I'd love to figure out how to get that panel to light back up!!

1. Buy a used repaired unit.
2. Have somebody repair it for you. (http://factoryradioservice.com/)
3. Resolder and replace the burnt out light bulbs. (that's what I did).
It depends on your skill level and how much time you have. The third option is very tedious and time consuming. I was only able to repair the lights for all my buttons. The LCD backlight uses different bulbs which I was unable to find. You can replace the whole LCD unit with the bulbs for around $110 through Pioneer's website. (CWM4319). According to their site, this part is currently out of stock and is expected to be available June 16th, 2012.
p.s.: I'm going to make a DIY about bulb replacement.

I was told there's just this Spring I need to replace the gas door, is there any DIY guide that might give me an idea of how it can be done?

I replaced the spring on my 98 several years ago and as I remember the replacement just snapped into place. There were pieces of old spring in place that gave me some idea of installation.

I replaced the LCD on my 97 ES, it was about 115 bucks from pioneer. If you have backlights out too, you may want to search on here for the part # and map out which ones it is by turning on the lights at night and then making a diagram of where the lights are burnt out, that way you can replace the right ones when you are looking at the back of the unit when u take it out (I used to do this for the gauge cluster in my first ES since those lights would burn out from time to time...don't have that problem anymore though..optitron FTW!) I had no problem getting mine out and replacing, I think it took maybe 1-2 hours tops. But like people have said on here, you might wanna check out the price of putting an aftermarket unit in or getting one on ebay b/c by the time you get all those parts you might be looking at 150+, and I've seen some 7" LCD touch screen head units on ebay (granted they are off brand) with DVD and TV tuner for the ballpark of 250, so you may wanna go that direction.
