Default The tale of my 97 Es300 in Indonesia *lots of pics*

This is my first trial importing a used car to Indonesia.
Just wanted to share.
I think this is the first of the 3 units that are registered around here.

I bought a 97 ES300 in Singapore and import them back to Indonesia.

The original color of this car is white but the last owner decided to repaint them cheaply to black and its a job for me to deal with it after i bought them. Spent a bomb on the car and it has done 88000 km.

First mods : Unichip (to get it running perfect with local 88,92 and 95 ron petrol)
and a dyno would tell whether the engine has overworked itself.

Second mods : Clear taillight and 17 inch 3rd gen GS300 from my other car

Third mods : 18 inch RX300 wheel with tires but i removed them again due to the harsh ride and rubs the shock absorber

Fourth Mods : Timing Belt, Water Pump, Rear Main Seal, Y pipe, K&N air filter, Hi flow Cat installation and another dyno (to retune the engine), Change of registration back to Jakarta Plate.

Fifth Mods : Repainting to Black Mica Metallic (I hope not final mod), First Zaino 3 coat details.

It took me 2 years to finally made the car as it is now.
Its my daily driver and i put a lot of miles driving up and down the highway here.

Are those parking sensors in the back? Is that something that you installed yourself?

Great work on the car, it looks beautiful!

Good eye, I'm curious about that too. Great work BTW , I loved the Rx Rims, too bad they did not work on it; how do you have so much access to stock wheels BTW? Do you own/operate an auto shop there?

Also, I can't believe how much it looks exactly like its US counterpart, aside from the RHD and the fender turns of course. Maybe I'm clueless here, but I thought that they did not export these as Lexus cars until say 2001, and in all markets other than NA they were the windom?

I actually import and trade .a lot of car parts from overseas here. I don't own a shop.
I just import them in bulks
I bought the rx wheels in bad accident condition and refurbished them.
I dont like the outcome though. The GS wheels came from my parents GS300 actually.
Thanks guys.

By the way this car is for sale now.
US$15.000 or Rp 150.000.000
It has complete documentation and history. Taxed till March next year
Perhaps if anyone would like to purchase them, the car is located at Jakarta, Indonesia.
Please contact +62 21 70830280.
I will be happy to assist you. Perhaps sending these to out of Jakarta town as well.
Thanks

Congrats on you ride, YGC88!

My question sounds silly, but actually it is not so. Is your ES OBDII compliant, I mean, can you check your ECU with those cheap code readers? I know that some Lexus/Toyota sold abroad use a proprietary serial data stream called M-OBD (Multiplex OBD), so a typical diagnostic tester will not work on this.

The last time I was in Jakarta was 2004...are the roads there any better now? I'm sure the traffic has gotten worse.

It actually doesn't work.
We have to use the huge Autoboss scanner and plug them on the engine bay with Toyota plug.
At least that works.

Whoa, is that really what those go for over there?? (Maybe the dollar has just been devalued that much!) how much is a new ES? In the US a 97 might go for $3-6k and you can get a new one stripped down for the mid to high 30k range before options and fees. If that's true you should be importing RHD windoms all day long and converting them to ES's! Could prob clear 5-7k on each one!
