Exclamation What went bad & when - thread...

Basically, [specifically NEWBS] DON'T POST QUESTIONS HERE, simply post the following and update as you wish. Point is to dictate what went bad & when using this thread for future reference and as a general idea, as to avoid stupid threads asking when peoples' trans. gave out [as an example]

Copy this format below;
Year:
Mileage:
Location:
Regular maintenance:
I'll start.

Year: 2001
Mileage: 138k MILES [US AMERICAN CAR]
Location: Canada [regular winter/summer conditions/exposed to elements]
Regular maintenance: Followed
Bad: Struts, sway bushings front&back, AC compressor, Right Rear caliper, at 100k Right front caliper

140k-ish, new valve covers, spark plugs, belts
145k, new [used] trans
147k, rear driver caliper & rear brakes
155k, new OCV's both just in case

I'm sure I'm missing some stuff, but it would bring me into a great depression looking over what I spent on this thing.

.....and go!

Year: 1997
Mileage: +420k km

Regular maintenance: Followed, since day 1.
Bad: typical wear and tear stuff (suspension, brakes, etc), little bit of rust, exhaust flex pipe rusted out, passed emission (right at the limit)

actually, got the car for $500, just needed to dump in a lot of time and parts in it. Kinda over did it a little.

2001 Lexus ES 300
Bought in Ottawa from Bel Air Lexus certified dealer.
57,000 km when purchused 1 owner.
Location: Canada, GTA, winter, rust, humidity, blah blah blah...no good conditions!

Currently 195,000 km.

150,000 km did timing belt/water pump.

around 120,000 km some sensor in the exhaust failed (60 $ part, easy to replace).

190,000 did front struts, bushings, steering linkages.

Rear bushings or something else was done around 140,000 km, but forgot what exactly (lol yes I'm special)

195,000 replaced PCV valve and fuel filter (nothing went wrong, just wanted to do it and get new ones as I was still running originals).

195,000 both rear back plates behind rotor are rusted down to nothing and need to be replaced.

Around 120,000 did new coolant, tranny fluid (with filter and gasket, again just wanted it replaced).

Around 170,000 replaced all 4 original rotors with powerslot ones, new brake pads, did brake fluid flush.

Still running original Xenon bulbs lol.

I need new rims because the 16 inchers that came with the car are shot, will get new rims when these tires are done.

Car was also run on full synthetic oil since purchuse, and for the last 1.5 years on Amsoil XL.

no man, u have no idea how much i wish i had factory paint on my car.
the paintjob i got is showing its flaws now.
maybe i'll get another paint job in a few years down the road...a perfect paint job. I think i'll spend the money properly and get it done once and for all.

2001
189K miles
Buffalo NY=sucky weather

86k-Rear Sway bar bushings ($100)
110k- 90k mile service done at dealer ($1700)
110k- Bad o2 Sensor ($150)
135k-Replace original front calipers and rotors ($300)
146k-Replace struts all round (rears are now gone and need to be replaced again) ($500)
156k- Trunk and driver door lock cylinder needed to be cleaned (Free)
176k-New charcoal canister ($600)
182k- Knock Sensor Replace($550)
184k-Replace front sway bar links($60)
184k-Oil Control Valves Replaced($600 for both i think)
184k- Drain and fill transmission fluid($46)
184k- Replace original calipers and Rotors on rear ($500)

Thats all i can think of off the top of my head, have owned the car since new. other then this new tires every 40k miles, rotations every 5k miles, oil changes every 5k miles, coolant/transmission every 60k and washed every 2 days. I need new strut mounts and struts in the back, and will replace rear sway bar links at the same time

Rough estimates on how much i paid, little over 5 grand but it is very close. Probably other stuff i am forgetting
