Hi,
I am having this code which says shift solenoid E, torque converter, or valve body. I figure the solenoid is the cheapest and easiest to fix so I'm just going to try to replace it instead of spending the same amount of money to have a mechanic diagnose the problem. I called Lexus dealer and they don't know which one of the 5 solenoids is solenoid E. Can someone tell me what is the "official" name for shift solenoid E? If you have a part number that I can give to the Lexus dealer, that would be great.
I also read somewhere (I don't remember where) that an after market torque converter will cause this code. Is this true? I had my transmission rebuilt (it is out of the warranty now) and I have the feeling that they used an aftermarket torque converter. If this is the case, is there anyway to fix it without replacing the torque converter?
Thanks.

I having the same code and my car acts like is a stick instead of a automatic, my friend whos a mechanic told me to flush the transmision and that should clear the code he told me that the valve body gets clog and it cause the mailfunction to shift solenoid, I think that is the cheapest way to go however, I am not 100% positive that flushing the ATF will help but I can be wrong.

I've had this code for 2-3 years on and off every few weeks, usually after some hard acceleration onto the highway. Recently, I replaced the transmission pan filter and gasket bcause there was a small leak, and the code hardly ever shows up anymore - maybe once a month or two. I don't believe it's a serious issue. I also had my transmission rebuilt in the past, but the code didn't show up until a few years after that.
