ES300 Bumper Painting
I want to fix a little area on my rear bumper. How do I find out the paint formula? Is it printed somewhere on the car? I'd like to make it into a little pet-project so I can smile (or sigh) at my own handiwork.

I fixed a scuff on my front bumper with touch up paint from the dealer (sanded out the scrapes first with fine sandpaper). In most lights, it doesn't look too bad. What color is your car, I think some of the lighter shades (beige, pearl white) have a more silver bottom, while the darker shades (black, green) have more of a gunmetal bottom. The color code (for the top) is on the doorjamb sticker with the date of manufacture, and the parts dept knows which bottom colors go with which top colors.
Touch up paint always leaves "blobs", people have discussed thinning it with anhydrous isopropyl alcohol, or a product called Langka. Do a search for "Langka" and you will find a lot of stories of people fixing scuffs on bumpers. It's a common problem for those who must park in the city, between parallel parking, and parking garages with pillars (that's how I scuffed mine, underestimated the front overhang of the car by about an inch).
For my car, the color codes are 202 Black Onyx (top), and C20 for the gunmetal bottom.
