Default 97 ES300 Rear Shocks Replacement.

I found some great prices on rear shock assemblies at Rockauto.com...

My question is what else do I need? Upper mounts and spring isolators? Car has 136k miles and i know for a fact the rear shocks are shot. I'd like to get all the parts and then just pay labor for the installation... Thanks

Where in S FL are you?

I'd def replace the mounts with the struts. I would personally use KYB brand if you want stock ride with quality. The stock struts are actually made by KYB. The upper insolators are part of the mount. the lower one I would only replace if they need to be. See if they are still nicely intact are cracking up and falling apart.

The only other thing would be the sway bar bushings and links. The bushings, IF original, I would replace for sure. The links only is they have to be cut off. But being in FL, chances are decent that they will come off ok since there isn;t as much rust as up here in the north.

Are you also doing the front struts as well? I would say the exact same for the front. But for the front you probably won;t need new insolators. See if they are intact and unripped.

My friend here on CL lives in Port St Lucie too, '99 SC400 dropped on 20's.

Are you buying just struts? Or the 'quickstruts' ?

Monroe quickstruts - the whole deal. Didn't want to waste time with individual components only to pay the mechanicn in labor where i would think i'm 'saving' money in not getting new springs...

Hate to bump this up, but the rock auto add said makes it seem like there are 2 mounts for 49 dollars, but the bill quantity says one, did you get 2 strut mounts or 1 strut mount?

You have to buy two of them. The description just means that it fits either side.

That is correct- you need to order two. They only show one part number- as its the same for either side(rear only). The reason why there are two #'s for front- is because they are side-specific.

I called in and bought two, weird how the mounts cost almost more then the struts. Hopefully this will make the terrible rattling sound go away when i go over bumps, it sounds like the strut is loose or something
