Default New ES300 owner (2000 w/45k) stupid question

Hello all.... Just purchased a 2000 ES300 with only 45k miles on it. It was literally owned by an old lady who only drove it on nice days. has all the goodies.... HID headlights, chrome Lexus rims, nakamichi sound system VSA and all that jazz.... LOVE this car!

Stupid question..... How the hell do you change the wiper blades on this thing? The wiper arms are tucked under the hood line and you can't pull the arms up without hitting the hood.....?

Read the owner's manual.

Pull the wiper arms parallel to the windshield and upwards. They will pop into another "gear".

unplug the window motor and reverse the plug and plug it in.
the wipers will move up into a different position...so called winter mode..u can change them then....

or, you could use the wiper blades and before they move back down, turn off key so they are in the middle of the windshield.

What's the difference between summer and winter mode? LOL I've never heard of it, sounds interesting.

Winter mode parks the wipers on the windshield about 2" above their normal summer position. That's to allow for ice and snow to accumulate below them, without them getting stuck.

I'm not sure if that's a unique feature to Lexus but, it certainly is a worth while feature for us in snow areas.

I just turn them on and then off -- park them in the middle of the windshield.

It may still have the OE blades -- they are high quality and you can get the replacement rubber inserts from Toyota for about $7 each.
