Please help :( Transmission on a 1999 ES300. Which do I have?
Thank you for taking the time to read over this. I'm actually trying to find out whether or not if I have the dreadful U140E or the more popular and more affordable A541E. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and have an excellent Christmas,
Shawn

That is what I was reading too but, I also read that it was in 1999 that they converted over toe the U140 but through out most of the year, they used the A541E. I'm just not certain how to determine which one it is at this point.

See my edited post, it should be accurate. It gets confusing because the various parts outlets list both transmissions on a 2001 ES for example.

My 2000 has a sticker on the drivers door.
I had my 140e rebuilt about 15k ago fro $1700 -- had 220k on it . We have three es300's in the extended family and this is the first transmission. And at 220k you can't say anything bad about that!

there should also be a sticker on the driver door that reads something like A/T- U140E.
@yeldogt my transmission also just went out at just 27 miles shy of 220k this past wednesday and I was quoted at about 1700-1800 to rebuild. Never a good thing but you can't really complain about 220k with no transmission maintainance.
