I guess you guys like to live on the edge. I fill up every 13-15 gallons, which is at 1/4 tank.

I don't keep extra gas in my car cause someone will borrow it and that gas will go missing. After I put my engine everyone is in for a rude awakening. Premium only that's all the engine ever had anyway top tier as well proly shell.

I also have a 2001 ES300 and when the empty light comes on I don't worry at all because I still have at least 100 km or more to go depending on where I am driving.

I am actually really surprised I haven't run out of gas yet, I've certainly pushed my luck with the car.

Also I get extreme MPG numbers depending on how and where I drive. There's been a few times where I did 800 km on a tank of gas driving 80 km/h on country roads. That's about 28.93 MPG US using a rough estimate of 65 liters of premium gas, which is awesome, I love the ES300 on the highway, it's a beast!

Right now during winter, my commute from the burbs to the city, I am getting around 500-550 on 60 liters and that's around 21-22 MPG mixed driving. For the winter I'm running 87 octane gas because I noticed it makes almost no difference in cold weather and city driving vs premium.
How do you get such great mpg?? I put in 87 and if its all highway i can get about 400 miles to the tank and thats only about 22mpg.. How do you get about 29mpg? Because i also have a 2001 es, and id love to have that great of mpg. I only get 18mpg in the city and i dnt floor it all the time i actually never do i just stay low and cruise..

You can't calculate by the tank, this is how you figure mpgs. Fill her up until the first click at the same pump same station. Drive however far you drive, fill her up at the same pump and same station until the first click. The miles driven divided by the gallons of fuel put in will equal your mpg. What you're doing is calculating 400/18.5 which is about 22mpgs or so. The F to E with light on is max 17 gallons. Most likely around 15. 400/15 puts you at 26.6 that's what your es is rated at and you can get better if you stay light on the gas no passing and keep it at 65.
