Oil leak at 132740 miles
I have an oil leak but can't pinpoint where it's coming from. It's a mess down there. Here's a couple of pics that i took while under the car.
What is this part called, its the wettest part of the under carriage.

That last part is your power steering pump and the black hose coming out of it is the return hose that goes to the reservoir. Try to clean the underside of the engine/tranny with some Simple Green and a bristle brush/water.
I once thought that I had an oil leak, but then after some cleaning realized that it was just some spilled oil from the oil filter change.

Thanks for the reply guys...
I've wash the engine bay with those gunk degreaser and also sprayed some under the engine. I felt under the rear valve cover by the passenger side and could feel oil seepage around that area. So yeah, i have a rear valve gasket leak.

it's not a bad idea to use two washers. basically the stock torque setting is too low for the valve cover bolts, that's why it's so common to have leaky valve cover gaskets.
the reason you cannot torque them too high is because the bolt bottoms out at certain point and another washer solves that problem. so instead of a mere 12lb~15 of torque u can do a hand tight of let's say 25 or 30.
engine bay looks pretty fresh. nice job with the diy! it was smart to replace the sparkplug tube seals while you were at it. did you replace the pcv valve and the grommet for that?

Yea, i learn my lesson when doing the front valve cover gasket i broke 2 bolts while torquing it at 5-6 ft. lbs. as specified on one of the thread here.
I replaced the PCV valve about 2 years ago.. so it still should be good.
