#61
old thread sorry but i've been searching and can't find anything that is definitive, I have a 97' and almost all the lights go out intermittently lol and a whack always fixes it lol. Right now i need to know about the bulbs in the radio the one behind the equalizer specifically. This ones not able to be recessitated however. Part numbers same as 92'-96'? Procedure? Solder or screw in?. thanks

awhiteguy quote from From 10/02 → I ordered them from a place called Sunray Lighting Irvine, CA.
www.sunraylighting.com
1-800-8-LIGHTS
Part Number: 39-06-5a
Description: T1-1/4 WT BLUE BOOT
I just called Sunray Lighting to order some boots and they are now Candela, not Sunray Lighting, 1 hour south of LA. Phone # still good, but part # 39-06-5a no longer exists. They did find T1-1/4 Blue Boots (per awhiteguy's "Any boot that fits a T1-1/4 size bulb would work," and they cost all of .51 each (sold in groups of 10).
3 climate ctrl & 8 for instrument cluster (sold in groups of 10 I bought 20), how can you beat .51 a boot and I got them in NY from CA in 5 days. Works for me...now the climate and instrument cluster will match the blue Sony stereo/cd.
Update - I bought these on eBay to replace factory bulbs behind dash with LED's, 10pcs 286Wide Angle LED (Spark Blue) Dash Wedge Bulbs and 12 5mm twist lock wedge base from warden_jp2002@yahoo.co.ip for a total, incl shipping, for $12.13. Now dashboard and climate control buttons are all blue and look awesome. LCD on climate ctrl is still factory (green), but everything else is blue and looks real sharp.

Does Pioneer (or other) sell the board w/bulbs
I've been reading these threads and I'm wondering if Pioneer sells the actual board, complete with bulbs pre-soldered. The board is marked CNP 4092-C No. 2 Does anyone know??
I've pulled apart the stereo from my 97 ES300 and I'm not so psyched about having to desolder/resolder all the bulbs. I'm sure it'll cost a bunch more, but I'm willing to pay to fix this problem rather than mess around with the bulbs. Just looking for a replacement for original bulbs since they burnt out -- nothing fancy (although what many of you guys did w/color backlighting ROCKS!)
Any info would be appreciated?!!!

Try searching eBay. That's where I got a climate control for like $35 last year. This was before I found Club Lexus and the bottomless pit of knowledge shared here.
1) This guy has headlights and some other stuff: http://stores.ebay.com/Cross-Cultural-Connections
2) Maybe try this link I found a while back, but I cannot guarantee anything here since I just "shopped the market" at this website. http://www.autohausaz.com/
I agree that a complete replacement avoids any electrical problems and maybe that is easier for you. Good luck!
I am not employed by either of these above websites nor will I be compensated for any sales. I am just sharing a few sites I've found.

Thanks alot for your reply/suggestions. The climate control is a breeze -- I fixed that a while back (using bulbs the dealer sold me).
The radio is more challenging. It's easy to get a bunch of bulbs, but I've got limited time/experience in desoldering/soldering the actual bulbs onto the board. Maybe this is easier than I'm making it to be but I'm looking for an easy plug-n-play way to fix the burnt bulb problem.
I've been trolling ebay for some time now, but nothing seems to come up. Pioneer offers 11 items that begin w/CNP40xx but none match the 4092. I'll keep looking!

This looks like it'll fit your ride. It is described "1997-1999 Fits Pioneer equipped models only." Shown to have new LCD and they offer a $55 core for factory radios.
Take a looksie, and see if it fits your budget.

I just got sick and tired of not being able to tell the time since one of the back light is burnt out behind the lcd screen, not to mention several buttons with burnt out bulbs. Its embarassing when i drive people in my car (at night).
So..I just logged onto the Pioneer parts website, made an account and searched for the bulbs : Cel1222 (bulbs behind the buttons) and CEL1247 (screen backlight)
They cost $4.50/$10
As soon as they are delivered, i will do a pictorial write-up (maybe after my OCHem midterm next week)
