Have a question on a 1996 ES300 regarding windows
Hey all,
I am thinking about getting a 1996 ES 300. Regarding the doors/windows...when the doors are open is there a frame around the windows or is it just the window?
My concern is that the windows will get loose over the years from people shutting the doors by pushing on the windows. Is this a problem with the ES300? Thanks in advance...

i have a 95 and have never heard of windows not closing right on an ES before. i saw an acura legend this morning where the window closed OUTSIDE of the door frame. i thought she had an accident (frame damage) but that wasnt the case. anyway, frameless door/windows are great for getting into your car in tight spaces, when your door only opens a few inches. when i try to squeeze into my dad's GS and its impossible, i just jump in through the open window on the ES i dont have to. and no im not fat

what i like about the no frame design is that i never get shocked when closing the doors.
lexus told me they put the frames back on cause they made the car quieter.
i personally don't have much wind noise in my car.

Thanks guys for all your help. I was worried about the window thing for a minute.
Now that I remember I had a friend with an Acura with famless windows and after 5 years or so the dirvers and passengers window were very loose and had a gap between the window and the weather stripping, which in turn made a huge noise while driving. I guess Lexus makes the window/doors more solid!

I had a similar problem when I had my '92 ES, you have to go to a certifiable place OR the dealer and have them re-seal your windows. I used to wash my car and I'll see splash marks on the back seats or water leaking down the inside of the back-door windows.
There is a rubber seal under the upper door-frame (visible when you open your door) that is probably frayed or damaged.

they also do that because of water on in the seal there, all cars do that. that is why you know not to roll down your windows for a few hours just after you wash your car, so you dont get water streaks...

When I wash the car myself, I sometimes end up with some condensation inside on the edges of the passenger side windows...this has started happening recently
Also, with the sunroof cover slid back but the roof closed, I hear a a good amount of howling...any of you experience this? It's odd because I don't remember it being like this before.
